Keryflex Nail Restoration
KeryFlex is a cosmetic treatment used to improve the appearance of damaged or discoloured toenails. It’s commonly used when nails have been affected by trauma, fungal infections, or other conditions that cause discolouration or irregular nail growth.
What is Keryflex?
KeryFlex uses a specialised resin to create a natural-looking artificial nail over the existing one. The material is flexible, which means it moves with the natural nail and doesn’t cause further damage. It also allows light and air to pass through, while helping to block moisture and external irritants.
What to expect during treatment?
The existing nail is cleaned and prepared first, then the resin is applied and shaped to match the natural nail. A UV light is used to harden the resin, and a sealant is added to give it a smooth finish.
The entire process takes around 30 minutes depending on how many nails require treatment. Once completed, the nail can be left as is or painted with regular polish.
When is Keryflex Recommended?
KeryFlex is a recomended for people with:
- Nails damaged by fungal infections or injury
- Thickened or misshapen nails
- Discolouration or partial nail loss
- Dystrophic nails that are growing unevenly
KeryFlex is considered a very safe cosmetic treatment, but it isn’t suitable for everyone. It’s not recommended for individuals with:
- Peripheral vascular disease
- Poor circulation
- Nerve damage in the feet (peripheral neuropathy)
- Recurring ingrown toenails
- Unusual or pigmented lesions beneath the nail that haven’t been diagnosed
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are known to have allergies or sensitivities to any of the materials used in the product.
KeryFlex is often used to improve nail appearance while waiting for a natural nail to grow back or as a temporary solution alongside some medical treatments.
Important things to know
- KeryFlex is a cosmetic procedure and doesn’t treat or cure fungal infections.
- The restored nail generally lasts 6–8 weeks, depending on activity levels and how quickly your nails grow.
- It’s not suitable if there’s active infection, open wounds, or if most of the nail is missing.
